ALLISON CANTON

I’ve spent my career circling one question:

I know this territory
from the inside.

I went to Harvard Law School, started in BigLaw, and spent years inside fast-growing healthcare and technology companies. I helped scale Flatiron Health through its acquisition by Roche and later served as General Counsel and Head of People at House Rx.

I was good at high-achievement culture.
Maybe a little too good at it.

More about me

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been asking the big questions: Why are we here? What does it mean to live well? How do we build a life that feels authentic and joyful?

These days, I spend more time researching the human side of legal work: attention, cognition, judgment, stress, identity, and what we risk outsourcing as AI gets better.

I’m also a longtime meditation practitioner and teacher and Reiki master.

Most of my work lives in three places.

01

Fit to Practice

For the lawyer part of my brain.

Story-led, science-backed CLE and professional programming about the human side of practicing law: judgment, burnout, perfectionism, sleep, attention, AI, and what lawyers should still know how to do themselves.

02

Practically on Purpose

For the questions that refuse to stay at work.

Essays and conversations about ambition, identity, reinvention, meaning, and figuring out which parts of the life you worked very hard to build you actually want to keep.

Where I think out loud.

I write about the mindsets that help high achievers, especially lawyers, succeed professionally, and the trouble those same habits can cause in the rest of their lives.

Follow along

I like conversations
that get somewhere.

Judgment. Burnout. Professional identity. AI. Ambition. The high pain threshold of lawyers.

I speak with lawyers, executives, and other high achievers about the human side of demanding work.

A speaking engagement, CLE program, podcast, collaboration or conversation I should probably be having?
I’d love to hear about it.
